History
and Philosophy
Ets
Chaiyim lives up to its name as a school where
the life-giving wisdom of the Scriptures is
supreme. Ets Chaiyim, which
means “tree of life” in Hebrew,
is a ministry of Beth Messiah Congregation.
Beth Messiah realizes the immense responsibility
of parents to educate their children in the
ways of the Lord. Therefore, in 1980, Beth
Messiah established Ets Chaiyim School for
the children of the congregation and for the
children of committed believers in our area.
In 1996, Ets Chaiyim established its high
school with its first graduating seniors represented
in the class of 2000. Ets Chaiyim serves to
assist parents in their God-ordained role
of training their children in the ways of
the Lord.
Unique
Vision
As
a Messianic Jewish school, our students participate
in an environment full of the
richness
of biblical Jewish heritage, which is centered
in the teachings and example of Yeshua (Jesus)
the Messiah. We teach from the Hebrew Scriptures
(the Old Testament) and the New Testament
in all areas of faith and life. In addition,
students celebrate the biblical feasts and
festivals as the Apostles did, in the grace
and power of the Ruach ha Kodesh (Holy Spirit),
exalting Yeshua as our Lord. For Messianic
Jews and for Gentile believers with an appreciation
for the biblical Jewish roots of the New Covenant
faith, we are an ideal school. Ets Chaiyim
families come from over thirty different congregations
in the Montgomery County area. The oneness
of Jew and Gentile represented in our school
is a testimony of the prophetic nature of
our school.
Mission
The
Primary mission of Ets Chaiyim School is to
raise up young people who are mighty in Spirit
— youth who love the Lord with all their
heart, soul, mind, and strength. Matthew 24:9-13
relates that in the end times wickedness will
increase and many will turn away from God
— though God’s people will spread
the light of Yeshua to the world. We take
up this challenge to disciple faithful servants
in God’s Kingdom who can be Yeshua’s
light. To realize this vision, we give ourselves
to the following purposes:
•
Worshiping God and walking with him throughout
the school day.
• Remembering that God is the giver
of all knowledge.
• Teaching and encouraging the fruit
and gifts of the Holy Spirit.
• Imparting to our students a knowledge
of Scripture through Bible study, memorization,
and life application.
• Excelling in academics.
• Fostering integrity and covenantal
relationships among our students.
• Training students to be responsible
and accountable.
• Integrating technology into the classroom.
• Participating in extracurricular activities
such as our athletics teams, the Lions of
Judah.
Ets
Chaiyim is committed to capturing the spirit
of Ecclesiastes 4:12 of a three-stranded cord
that is not easily broken. The three strands
of the cord are the parents,
the congregation, and the
school. This principle of
unified, covenantal teamwork will provide
the student with the best opportunity to receive
a Biblically-integrated, quality education.
